Panama is one of the world’s most important hubs for trade, logistics, and finance, with the Panama Canal and the Colon Free Trade Zone, the largest free trade zone in the Americas. Panama has become a important gateway for China’s export to Latin America. With the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Panama in 2017, the economic and trade cooperation potential between the two countries has been on the rise, and the China-Panama free trade agreement is under active negotiation. Panama attaches great importance to the Chinese market as well as China's technological knowledge and expertise in the digital economy and hopes to further convert the complementary advantages of the two sides into mutually beneficial cooperation.
During the meeting, Mr. Lu introduced Jumore’s business model and digital solutions to President Varela, and acknowledged Panama’s importance in Jumore's global business expansion. Jumore aims to combine its global digital platform with Panama’s unique geographical advantage in order to ensure the smooth launching and efficient operation of Jumore’s China-Panama digital platform. This joint project will further accelerate trade growth between China, Panama, and the rest of Latin America through digital trade, digital supply chain services, digital marketing, and digital barter, constructing a “digital silk road”.
President Varela spoke highly of Jumore’s business model. He hopes that Jumore’s digital platform can effectively provide access to resources in China and the rest of the world, while at the same time facilitating the digital transformation of Panama. President Varela also invited Jumore to visit Panama and welcomed Jumore the company to set up its regional headquarters in Panama. Lastly, the President expressed his willingness to actively support Panama’s free trade zones and business partners to work with Jumore to jointly promote business development and bring new life into bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
